Veroli trasuda storia millenaria. Te ne accorgi quando cammini per i vicoli del centro storico, e con una naturalezza inaudita ti imbatti nei Fasti Verulani (rarissimo esempio di calendario romano relativo ai primi tre mesi dell’anno), quando entri in una delle numerosissime chiese e trovi una delle 3 scale Sante presenti sulla terra (le altre a Roma e Gerusalemme), o addirittura quando affronti un viaggio sotterraneo nelle viscere del paese. Tutto è storia a Veroli. E non puoi non accorgertene visitandola.

Da non perdere l’Abbazia di Casamari, uno dei più importanti monasteri italiani di architettura gotica cistercense, la Rocca si San Leucio e il monastero di S. Erasmo. D’obbligo è l’assaggio della tipica Ciambella di Veroli, con i semi di Anice.

Step inside one of the town’s many churches, and you may find one of the three Holy Stairs in the world (the others being in Rome and Jerusalem), or descend underground for a fascinating journey into the hidden depths of the town. In Veroli, every stone tells a story, and it’s impossible not to feel its timeless spirit.
