La gola del Fiume Rapido è una delle zone più selvagge dell’Appennino Laziale-Molisano. Qui, a causa di un particolare fenomeno carsico, sgorgano le sorgenti del fiume, e proprio la presenza dell’acqua ne fa un luogo di grande interesse naturalistico. Al centro della Gola, è inoltre presente, e ben conservato, un antico ponte medievale. Tutta l’area, come l’intero comune, è stata teatro di eventi bellici: per tale motivo non sono rari rinvenimenti di bombe e proiettili inesplosi.
The Rapido River Gorge is one of the wildest areas of the Lazio–Molise Apennines. Here, due to a particular karst phenomenon, the river’s springs emerge, and it is precisely the presence of water that makes this place of great naturalistic interest. At the heart of the gorge stands a well-preserved ancient medieval bridge. The entire area, like the whole municipality, was the scene of wartime events; for this reason, the discovery of unexploded bombs and shells is not uncommon.
