Monumento del 6° Reggimento Corazzato “Bambini di Leopoli " - Piedimonte San Germano

Al di fuori delle mura del castello medievale, a simbolo e ricordo di coloro che hanno combattuto per la pace e per la libertà, posto all’apice del colle della memoria, si trova il monumento Monumento del 6° Reggimento Corazzato “Bambini di Leopoli”. Fu realizzato grazie agli sforzi del circolo dei soldati del Reggimento “Bambini di Leopoli”. L’obelisco è stato inaugurato il 19 agosto 1973, sul suo è affissa una targa commemorativa con i cognomi dei 40 soldati del reggimento caduti “in marcia per la lontana Polonia”. Ogni anno, in questo posto, nei giorni dal 17 al 25 maggio ricorre l’evento commemorativo “Guerra e Pace”. Un momento molto solenne per rendere onore al coraggio e allo spirito di sacrificio di tutti coloro che hanno dato la propria vita in nome della città di Piedimonte San Germano.
Outside the walls of the medieval castle, as a symbol and reminder of those who fought for peace and freedom, at the summit of the Hill of Memory stands the monument dedicated to the 6th Armoured Regiment ‘Children of Lviv’. It was built thanks to the efforts of the regiment’s veterans’ association. The obelisk was inaugurated on 19 August 1973 and bears a commemorative plaque engraved with the surnames of the 40 soldiers of the regiment who fell ‘on the march toward distant Poland’.
Each year, from 17 to 25 May, the commemorative event ‘War and Peace’ takes place at this site. It is a deeply solemn occasion to honor the courage and spirit of sacrifice of all those who gave their lives in the name of the city of Piedimonte San Germano.
